I love the proposal photo. On facebook, Kyle Franklin tells that he flew his Piper Cub to Amanda’s house, landed in her yard and asked for her hand in marriage. They were wed in October, 2005 and formed an inspiring airshow duo.
After their crash in March, I have been following Kyle’s facebook posts and praying for Amanda’s recovery. Sadly, on May 27th, Kyle posted this update:
“It is with a broken heart that I tell you that my beautiful girl Amanda passed away at 10:10 central time this evening. Beside her was her adoring husband Kyle, her mother Jeanie, her brother Matt, her sister-in-law Michelle and her devoted mother-in-law Audean.
Thank you all again for your love,
Goodnight and God bless Amanda,
Kyle”
He also added:
“Amanda my love, I love you with all my heart, soul and everything I am. Our life together here was supposed to be seventy years not seven, but I look forward to seeing you in my dreams every night my love.”
In video production (especially on the wedding side) I get to capture the stories from a very diverse group of people. Although I didn’t film their wedding, I had the honor of meeting Kyle and Amanda at the National Radial Engine Exhibition in 2008 and 2010. Amanda was very thorough in providing me with information about their performances beforehand and was a very genuine and gracious person. She remembered the details of our brief conversations and followed-up with me to make sure I had everything I needed from them. I’m thankful that Kyle and Amanda let me capture their performances and share their stories.
Amanda’s life may be finished, but her story lives on through photos, videos, and the memories of the people who met her. After watching the video I put together in my previous post, it just doesn’t seem right that someone so vibrant is gone. My heart goes out to Kyle and her family. She will be missed.
“Life is a risk. Walking across the street is a risk. Laying in your bed, you could have a heart attack. Everything is a risk. Why not do what you love?” –Amanda Franklin “Sons of Legends Gag Reel”
